Instarmac Group plc, a leading manufacturer and supplier of cement and bitumen based products, required a new bespoke manufacturing facility to repair their previous smaller premises.
Located at Birch Coppice Business Park, Dordon, Tamworth, the scheme involved an 80,000ft2 clear span factory, 26,000ft2 of high-grade office accommodation, compressor house, maintenance workshop, transport offices and internal and external training areas.
A specific design challenge was the 30m tall sand silo housing which contained various platforms to support mixing equipment.
The reception and office areas contain a stunning feature staircase, full height glazing and an impressive level of fit out. Other design features included a 18m wide glazed rooflight to the rear of the offices, sun pipes, solar pre-heating to hot water and energy efficient lighting.
